Globalization Vocabulary
Commodities- any useful or valuable thing, especially something that is bought and sold. Grain, vegetables, and precious metals are commodities, but so are personal qualities that can be used to make money: Originality and imagination are rare commodities in the film business.
Globalization- is the process of ideas, products, and people moving around the planet with greater ease and efficiency. It often takes advantage of cheaper labor in less developed nations but increases free trade between nations and the free flow of capital
Interdependent- this means that the relationship between two or more things/people is very closely related and both need each other to make their system work
International- is an adjective that describes something that involves two or more countries, like international laws that multiple countries obey, or an international flight from France to Japan
Local / Domestic- used to refer to products that are produced in your country, or policies and issues that relate to your country
Markets- is both a noun and a verb that have to do with selling. Companies that successfully market potato chips make people buy a big bag at the market
Multinational Corporation (MNC) - is a major company that manages production and services in more than one country
Outsourcing- obtain goods or services from an outside supplier; to contract work out
Supply Chain- this is all the stages that something must go through to get from its original source to when it is sold in a store
Transnational Corporation (TNC) - this is a major company that does not identify itself with one nation and it tries to make its decisions based on a global not local market
Worldwide- spanning or extending throughout the entire earth
